TOMI Environmental Solutions, Inc. was founded in 2007 by its President and CEO Dr. Halden S. Shane. Like many Los Angeles residents, Dr. Shane had always assumed that his long standing allergy problems were caused by smog in the Los Angeles Basin. But then, Dr. Shane learned that his allergy problem may in fact be caused by polluted indoor air rather than smog. After extensive research, he decided to focus on ozone as a possible remedy.

His research carried him into an in-depth examination of the Ozone Industry and the

applications of ozone in water, food and its uses in air. Dr. Shane reviewed many case studies and presentations from various medical associations regarding poor indoor air quality. This research led Dr. Shane to concur with the conclusions of many other medical experts that there is a direct correlation between many medical problems and indoor air pollution.

Further investigation into governmental and medical literature revealed that up to 90% of an average person’s life is spent indoors and many medical associations, including the AMA (American Medical Association), feel that 50% of all illnesses could be attributed to indoor air pollutants. EPA has stated that concentrations of indoor air contaminants in homes can sometimes reach as much as 200 times the same contaminants found outside. Because of these findings, an idea was born.

Dr. Shane decided to investigate a company that produced the cleanest, purest Ozone (Nitric Oxide Free) by way of ultraviolet ozone generators. The reason he decided on ultraviolet generators over Corona Discharge ozone generators is because some Corona Discharge generators are known to produce harmful byproducts and residues, particularly when operated using ambient air containing moisture (relative humidity). After finding the source for these state-of-the-art ultraviolet ozone generators, Dr. Shane tested it in his own home. His allergic symptoms disappeared almost immediately. In fact, the results were so dramatic, that Dr. Shane decided to buy the company. Thus, TOMIES was created!

Ozone has always been widely misunderstood, probably because most of the public only knows about the “Ozone Layer” in the stratosphere, and that ozone is a component of photochemical smog at ground level. Few people realize that ozone is generated commercially and applied at ground levels in copious quantities to perform disinfection of microorganisms and oxidation of organic and some inorganic pollutants in our drinking water, bottled water, cooling towers, marine aquaria and in many food processing and storage applications.

While ozone in the stratosphere helps protect all life on Earth by blocking much of the sun’s harmful radiation, naturally occurring ozone that exists at ground level reacts with ultraviolet rays that do make it through the stratosphere, and this reaction breaks down some of the smog and air pollutants caused by man’s activities. So while ozone has been, in the past, mistakenly equated with smog, ozone actually protects us—both in the stratosphere and on the ground. However Ozone is a toxic, harmful gas if breathed in occupied space. That is why we at TOMIES, Inc. never use our generators when People, Pets, Plants are present.

How does ozone break down pollution?

Ozone (O3) is a derivative of oxygen (O2) that is created when the sun’s ultraviolet rays interact with oxygen molecules in the Earth’s atmosphere. At ground level, a molecule of ozone will attach itself to any number of microscopic organisms---mold spores, bacteria, viruses, dust mites, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)—and “oxidize” them, effectively killing them, inactivating them, or breaking them down into chemically simpler products. This process also breaks down the ozone and converts it back into oxygen.

Studies have demonstrated that this oxidizing effect of ozone kills bacteria, thousands of varieties of mold spores, allergens, and inactivates known viruses. Additionally, when this oxidation process is created through TOMIES ultraviolet generators of clean ozone, the ozone permanently removes odors caused by smoke, cooking, cleaning products, cigars, pets and urine.

What is TOMIES ozone deep cleaning treatment?

We have safely harnessed the third most powerful disinfectant known to man; ozone. TOMIES services include inspection, testing, treatment and maintenance.

First, we interview occupants to determine an exposure and maintenance history. When appropriate, one of our highly trained TOMIES technicians equipped with advanced technology will assess the air quality of your home, building, vehicle or vessel. Within a short period of time following the testing you will receive a report informing you of the contaminants found, along with a recommendation on how to mitigate them.

Each TOMIES Technician is certified to provide a wide variety of environmental services including air sampling. Microbial air samples are sent overnight to an **AIHA EMLAP accredited laboratory for analysis ensuring accuracy. Of the thousands of laboratories throughout America providing this sort of analysis, only a small percentage maintains this prestigious third-party designation.

All the data from laboratory analysis is reviewed by both the technician and our environment review staff to determine what contaminants are present in your indoor air.

After you have had an opportunity to review the report, a TOMIES Technician will explain the best way to treat your indoor environment.

Then, a TOMIES Technician will provide you with a checklist to assist you in properly preparing the area for our Ozone Deep Cleaning. Before commencement we ensure that the area to be treated is unoccupied and all PEOPLE, PETS, PLANTS and other ozone-sensitive materials have been removed. The TOMIES Methodology has been practiced for more than 8 years in over 24,000 contaminated indoor environments. Under normal circumstances, we utilize our state-of-the-art UV ozone generators for approximately 4-6 hours to produce ozone that controls or inactivates germs and other contaminants.
Finally, industrial-size fans are used to remove excess ozone. The byproducts of Ozone Deep Cleaning, volatile ozone oxidation products, ultra-fine allergens and mold particles on the walls, floors, and furnishings are removed by using **HEPA vacuums. When the process is completed, you are left with the smell of clean air.

Our TOMIES experts complete every job by testing the air to ensure or that no residual ozone has been left behind. Now, the space that you and your family live, work, or play in, is safe to reoccupy and is full of fresh air (frequently better than the air outside) thanks to our multi-step treatment process especially Ozone Deep Cleaning with UV produced ozone.

How long does it last?

Following one of our Deep Cleaning Treatments, your indoor air environment will be almost free of microbial contaminants as long as you do not reintroduce the bacteria, pathogen or microbial contaminating agent. The TOMIES can help you keep and create a healthy indoor air environment with our proprietary products for domestic and commercial use. Some TOMIES proprietary products include:

What is the TOMIES, inc. doing for the community and community awareness?

TOMIES Comes to the Rescue! The TOMIES is your solution to indoor air quality pollution! TOMIES comic book Super Hero was created to teach children about indoor air pollution and for them to help educate their parents on creating a clean air environment to live in. The comic book tells a little bit about the quality of air inside your home and includes an experiment for the kids to see how clean their indoor environment is and how to keep it safe and healthy. TOMIES will be traveling to schools and other community events to educate people on the importance of establishing and maintaining a healthy clean indoor air environment.

A portion of TOMIES profits are dedicated to providing Services free of charge to low income families.

So what is TOMIES all about? - -
